Here are the latest updates on Kathryn and her progress to find a donor.
Kate's updated blood work shows a drop to 11 eGFR.
Her body is not producing red blood cells very well and will require multiple infusions over the next few weeks. The decrease in red blood count is leading to a greater sense of fatigue as her body isn't very efficient with oxygen.
Also, her hernia in the abdomen area from her kidneys expanding in size has led to an increase in acute pain episodes.
Eating after 4pm is no longer possible as it led to high level of discomfort.
Kate receives word that she is officially on the list and potential donor testing can now begin.
Currently Kate is experiencing side effect of renal failure including nausea, inability to eat, rapid fatigue and pain. Currently she has about a 4-hour daily battery.
Kate has completed all the necessary test to be placed on the list. Awaiting the approval form insurance and official list notification.
Most Recent blood test show Kate at an eGFR of 12, which is deep into renal failure. Dialysis being considered.
Last required tests complete.
Kate undergoes a battery of tests over 3 days trips to OKC to test her overall suitability for a kidney donation.
Kate's eGFR, creatinine, and protein in urine are at a dangerous state and require improvement or dialysis in new future.
Kate is marked as a high potential kidney donor recipient due to her age and great overall health, other than kidney disease.
Kate has entered renal failure and is being referred to Integris in OKC to review for transplant potential.
